When we moved into our current apartment, we set out to make it feel as little like a rental and as much like a home as possible. I think we were very successful! We love our place, and accomplished it on a small budget. With lots of thrift shopping, bargain hunting, paint, paint, and more paint, we turned our apartment into a home!

Chalkboard kitchen is great
Love the couch where is it from?
This is beautiful!
Could you please tell us the paint used in the hall bathroom? Is it actually metallic? I have been considering using Ralph Lauren Home’s Golden Candlestick to create an accent wall in my living room.
I found this http://juggletube.com/how-to-choose-queen-duvet-cover-for-your-bedroom/
I am obsessed with the paint color in your bedroom and might use it for my future nursery. Can you please share with me the exact color of that gorgeous blue? Your place is amazing and wish you could come decorate my entire house!!! LOVE! Thank you SO much!
I love the design of your bedroom! Can you please tell me where the ink blot art comes from?
Really digging your kitchen chalk board. We all have dates we need to save, especially Lollapalooza!
I love your home, it’s amazing! can you tell me more about the horses on Sydney’s bedroom wall, I’m in love with them!
Now we need to see the new home and how fabulous you are making it.
Well you’ll just have to stay tuned to find out! 😉
The ottoman thing that your dog is lying on, what did you make or create That from? I want one for my dog.
It’s a combination of this one from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20033919/ and a floor cushion from Urban Outfitters. I don’t think they carry it any longer, just a pillow version http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=18240945&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS but you may be able to find a similar one somewhere else. I would search for a pintuck floor cushion. Good luck!
Thank you for letting me know. I appreciate it. 🙂
I really like the ottoman in living area. Where would I find that?
Thank you! The silver ottoman is from Target, but I’m not sure they carry it any longer. The other ottoman is a combination of this one from Ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20033919/ and a floor cushion from Urban Outfitters. I don’t think they carry it any longer, just a pillow version http://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=18240945&parentid=SEARCH+RESULTS but you may be able to find a similar one somewhere else.
I love the spray paint art work that features Sydney’s name! Where did you buy? Or did you create it? If so, how?
Hi Alisa,
Thanks! My husband made it! He sprayed the canvas gold, then created a stencil of Sydney’s name and used the stencil to spray her name onto the canvas with white spray paint. As a finishing touch, he added some extra white paint and allowed it to drip.
Good luck with the project, and let me know if you have any other questions!

Where did you find the boxes in your bathroom that you keep your jewelry in? LOVE IT!
I found them at a thrift store, and I added the decorative papers in the background, and little gold nails to hang rings on. They’re old printer block trays, and I think I picked one of them up in the city at Salvation Army or Goodwill, the other one came from a flea market in Ohio. They pop up every now and then, you just have to keep an eye out!
I Love your home..Love the grays..and the vintage furniture! So my style. I would like to know the shades of gray you used in your entry, hall and living room. I am in the process of picking the exact grays for my entry room, hall and kitchen/living room but finding it difficult to choose because I need something not too dark in between I guess. Kids you know..Boy’s lol.. and dirty hands! I also chose a blue similar to your room (which is fantastic btw 🙂 for my bath. Great inspiration!
Thank you so much! In our entry hall we used Behr Ultra in Intellectual. The gray in our living room is Behr Ultra Silver Sateen. You can actually see some tips for selecting paints, and all the colors used in our home in this post here: http://thegoldjellybean.com/2012/03/paint-tips-and-our-paint-colors.html
Happy Painting! And I would love to see your home once you’re done! If you’d like to share some pics, send them to me here: thegoldjellybean@gmail.com
