Today Sydney and I have an assembly line of handprint christmas ornaments going. I remember making one when I was a kid, and it still goes up on my mom’s tree every year. Now, we’ll have one to put on our tree every year!
We made a dough using 2 c. flour, 1 c. fine sea salt, and 1 c. water. Mix all ingredients together and knead for about 5 min. Then roll the dough out, about 1/2″ thick, and use a cup or bowl to cut out circles.
Now let your little one go to town making handprints in the dough. You will want to work quickly, as I found it started drying fairly fast. I also used letter stamps to add Sydney’s name to the ornaments.
I set the over for 200 and popped them in for 2 hrs. It may take a little more or less time depending on how thick you make them. You can also let them air dry for a day or two.
Then let cool, and paint away. We went with a classic gold, and spray painted them. You can also use this recipe to make other shapes, just break out the holiday cookie cutters!

I love the look of this and this is the winner for our home. Thanks for the share.
This website is completely gret. I’ve looked these informations a long time and I
realised that is professional, fast to understand.
I congratulate you for this article that I am going to tell to
prospects around. I request you to recommend the gpa-calculator.co site where each pupil or college student can calculate results
grade point average marks. Have a great day!
How many does this recipe make? I love the idea!. I have a Preschool classroom of 19 children.
Thank you,
Theresa

Has anyone tried this with other paints rather than spray paint? Will it work just as well?

can you use regular salt
I used sea salt, but I think regular salt would work just fine.
Did this with my Daycare kids. Wonderful Idea. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
This is absolutely amazing. The simplicity of the recipe and result is fantastic. Could you go into a little bit more detail on how you did the name? I really want to do this with my mommy’s group, and I want it to look just as nice! ~Kassie
Hi Kassie,
Thanks for stopping by my blog! I have a set of rubber stamp letters, and I pushed them into the dough after creating the hand impression & while it was still soft. For some ornaments I filled in the letters with permanent marker after the dough was dry and painted. I hope that helps, let me know if you have any other questions! Have a wonderful holiday!
Thank you so much! It was just as easy as it looks, and they turned out great with the rubber stamp letters I had too! I did spray paint after they dried, and also went over name with sharpie.
I have looked all over for the PERFECT holiday ornament ingredients. I love the look of this and this is the winner for our home. Thanks for the share.
