There’s no doubt that when it comes to recent design trends, blue is in. I first fell in love with the color and brought it home when we moved to our current apartment last spring. We coated our 12 foot bedroom walls in the perfect shade of navy blue. The color has actually become one of my all time favorite paint colors, and I can’t wait to use it in another room!
The blue hue is the perfect color scheme if you’re looking to achieve a unique and globally inspired design. Earlier this summer Ikea launched their limited edition True Blue Collection. It’s an Indian-inspired collection, and, in my opinion, it’s to die for. I want to own it all, and have been eagerly awaiting a release of the collection in our local stores. Sadly, I have finally come to the realization that it probably won’t happen. Sigh.
On a more positive note, Wisteria is also right on trend and has curated a beautiful blue collection in their summer catalogue! Their pieces are unique and reasonably priced.
Of course there are many other ways you can add some blue to your home decor. Here are a few DIY ideas to freshen up your room with this summer’s blue trend:
1. These painted candlesticks via Sunset are a quick and easy way to bring in the blue
2. I love the end result of this night table redo from Happy Mundane!
3. If you can’t find a rug you want, just paint it!

Love the Navy but in looking at the color, Arrowhead Lake it looks much lighter than the dark navy in your bedroom? Did you use any other navy blue color?
Behr ‘English Channel’ – I’ve used Valspar’s ‘Mykonnos Reflection’ for mine (very similar navy-blue as seen in the photo)
Where is the chevron bedspread from?
Hi Sarah,
It’s from West Elm. We did get it a couple years ago, but I think they may still have it available. We love it!
What is the name of the navy blue paint you used in your bedroom?
Nevermind, didn’t see it below.
Did I miss it? What is the paint colour? It’s absolutely gorgeous!!
Hi Jenn,
You most definitely did not miss the trend! Blue is a classic, timeless color. And I don’t foresee me repainting my bedroom anytime soon! I LOVE navy, and I think it’s always in style. The paint color in our room is by Behr and it’s called Arrowhead Lake.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog, and have a fabulous weekend!
