Things I Loved This Week

Three cheers for Friday! It’s been a good week and I came across some great sites I wanted to share.

The first one is a site with printable vintage paper dolls. Sydney will just adore these, and I’m thinking of cutting them out and incorporating either magnets or felt and creating a paper doll board for her. Click here to get your Besty McCall printables!

I also came across the blog of a very  talented and crafty mom who makes adorable plush toys. I love all her designs! Check her out at http://sweetfructose.wordpress.com, and click on Plush!

Have a great weekend! Don’t forget, next week I will be posting about our experience with our first BabbaCo box, and more information on how you can win one!

Eye Spy Some Play-Doh Fun!

For the last week Sydney and I have been eager to receive our first box from BabbaCo…. and it finally came in yesterday! BabbaCo is a monthly subscription activity box, and we are excited to dig in and give our first craft a try today. While we get busy I want to share some play-doh fun we had last week. It’s amazing how entertaining a little doh and a few googly eyes can be! Continue reading

DIY Anthropologie Inspired Floral Lamp Shade

Good afternoon! I am a little late posting today because I was having so much fun making this lamp shade for Sydney’s room. When we moved, some of our shades were damaged, and I have been meaning to revamp and fix them for the past year. Well, when I saw this adorable lampshade from Anthropologie, I was immediately inspired to create a similar look and finally fix one of the shades!  The flowers perfectly covered up cracks in the shade, and now it looks as good as new. Mini Grilled Cheese and Kale Sandwiches for Kids

We have an entire loaf of cocktail pumpernickel bread leftover from the birthday party this past weekend, and I didn’t know what to do with it. Then I realized, the cute little slices are perfect for fun kid sized sandwiches! Continue reading

Sydney’s Alice in Wonderland Birthday Party

Happy Monday! I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. We had a blast celebrating Sydney’s third birthday with  friends and family in Wonderland! Sydney and I worked on decorations all last week, and everything came together nicely. To set up the party we brought an old dining set out onto the patio. Surrounded by paper lanterns and tons of flowers, this became the perfect setting for the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party. And, she is super lucky her daddy braved the heat and dressed up so she could have Mad Hatter himself at her party! Continue reading

Imaginative Play with Stick People

There is so much to do these next couple days, I wish my sister could be here again. She helped us out with Sydney this past weekend, and my husband and I were able to get caught up on a bunch of work. Syd had lots of fun playing with her auntie, and when they broke into the craft cabinet, these cute craft stick people were the outcome. Continue reading

Chocolate Mustache Pops!

I am a little behind on some things today, like this blog post, as I have been running around like a crazy women getting supplies for Sydney’s Alice in Wonderland birthday party this weekend! While I try and get organized and put together some decorations, I will stick with the party theme and share with you these cute mustache pops I made as favors for the baby shower of one of my dearest friends. Quick & Easy Meatless Pasta Dinner

Today Sydney and I are planning to spend the afternoon at the pool, which of course won’t leave me much time to cook dinner tonight. On these types of days, I have a go to pasta dinner thats fairly quick and easy but not your ordinary spaghetti dinner.

I start with radiatori pasta, it’s hearty and does a good job scooping up chunky sauces. While the pasta boils I prepare the sauce. First, chop and saute red, yellow, orange, and green peppers in olive oil. Once the peppers are nicely golden on the edges, add the sauce to the pan. Add a little extra drizzle of olive oil if you’d like. Simmer the sauce on low,  and add a can of drained garbanzo beans. My husband it a big meat person, but he loves this dish and as long as these beans are in the sauce, he actually doesn’t miss the meat!

I then add the cooked pasta to the pan with sauce, and toss. Plate and top with fresh parmesan and basil. It’s really a fast and easy dish to prepare, and everyone in my family loves it, even Sydney!

DIY Make Your Own Telescope, Kids Craft

Good Morning! I hope everyone had a great Father’s Day weekend and enjoyed some sunshine.

Today I am sharing a fun project Sydney and I worked on together. I am always trying to come with new ideas for toilet paper and paper towel rolls. Recently we made a fun telescope with removable slides! It’s actually quite easy to make. Continue reading

Things I Loved This Week

Oh man, that two day room makeover really took it out of me. I am soooo glad it’s the weekend! It has been such a busy week, that I haven’t had my usual browsing time… but I did see a couple cool ideas this week that I would like to share with you. Enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!

I love pretty much everything from the gals over at A Beautiful Mess, and this week I’m really digging their diy frosted glass jars. Super cute easy way to update a reused jar, and they’re even dishwasher safe! I have gotta try this one. Continue reading

A Quick Bedroom Makeover On A Budget

After two full days of painting, rearranging, and accessorizing, the bedroom is done! The new paint color really transformed the room, making it feel fresh and bright. I also shifted the bed over, and moved the existing chest from the foot of the bed to the side. Now it has dual purpose as both storage and a night table. This also cleared up floor space at the foot of the bed. Then, I moved the large floor mirror to the other side of the room to help define a dressing area near the closet and bombay dresser. With this layout, the room is more spacious and inviting.

In order to marry the old and the new, I mixed in vintage items with beach accents, like this antique bowl filled with shells and starfish. The white ceramic bird adds a touch of whimsy.

Along with a few other accents, the yellow throw pillow brings a cheery feel to the room.

I couldn’t pass up this rope ball door stop. So cute!

In the end this diy room renovation took two days and just $300. As you can see, you don’t have to break the bank to update your bedroom!

Here is the Before & After:

Time to Paint! But First, Here Is The Room Before

Ok so it’s time to finally get to work today, and give this master bedroom a new life! I will be trying to reuse as much from the room, and around the house as possible, so this is going to be a makeover on a small budget. I want to show you how a little paint, moving some furniture around, and adding new bedding and accessories can completely transform a room.

Recipe : Pretzel Poke Cake

Woohoo! So happy it’s Thursday, Cola is feeling better, and the weekend is nearly here! Yesterday Sydney and I spent some time in the kitchen and baked a yummy summer treat. Jello Poke Cake and Strawberry Pretzel Dessert are two of my summer favorites. I found myself craving both, and so we combined the two and made a hybrid. It’s already half gone! Here is the recipe: Continue reading

Making Glow Jars

Yesterday Sydney and I had a major art and craft day, and also experimented with making glow jars. They have been floating around Pinterest for awhile now and look like so much fun! However, there is one tutorial that frustrates me. The image is clearly Photoshopped, and I think it’s very misleading. So, I decided to make a couple of our own jars so we can share our experience and method with you. I must admit, frustration aside, I was intrigued with the photoshopped glow jar image, it’s actually called fairies in a jar, and I wanted to try and replicate the glowing ‘fairies’ that appear to be suspended in mid-air. To do this, Continue reading

Tuesday Tips : Living Room Makeover On a Budget

It’s been a rough morning over here, we woke up and headed straight to the vet for our poor little Cola. Sydney is really sad her best friend isn’t feeling well, so we stocked up on some craft supplies and will be spending our afternoon at her art desk to keep her mind off things. While we do that I wanted to share with you the living room makeover I did at my mom’s house. I went to visit for a week, and couldn’t resist doing a little renovation project. For just about $900, she has a brand new room! Continue reading
