Dollhouse Renovation

Sydney and I spent almost all of yesterday updating her dollhouse. I guess I’m getting her started in the design business early! She was really excited to help pick things out for her dollhouse, and to start seeing it to come together in front of her. There is still a lot to do to the little house, but we’ll get there!

I picked up the dollhouse at a thrift store for $7. Here it is right after we bought it:

Here it is as of yesterday afternoon:

We used balsa wood from the craft store, and a little green paint to make a bookcase. Little shells Syd found on vacation were glued down on the top shelf. And the books are printed and adhered to empty match boxes.

An old fabric sample turned into the perfect area rug, and velvet covered makeup sponges make for a great sofa. I was lucky enough to snag those white chairs from CB2 for a couple bucks (they were actually christmas ornaments).

The kitchen furniture is from Hobby Lobby, and we added our own countertop using foam core and some woodgrain contact paper. The area rug here is a wallpaper sample.

I will be posting more pics and information as we continue the renovation. It’s currently home to a couple Blythe dolls, but I sense the addition of a couple princesses and possibly a rabbit family in the near future. It’s gonna be a full house.

We can’t wait to add more to the dollhouse! Stay tuned…..
